A bit of history
Anxiety is something I have suffered from almost most my entire life. As far back as I can remember, I have had physical symptoms that I suffered from. A pounding heart, shaking, headaches and sleep problems, just to name a few. At that time I didn’t know it was anxiety and I definitely did not know what it was or where it came from. I’m alot older now, and I have so much more experience with dealing with it! I led a life of decision making that was fear based and reactive. Some of those decisions led to failed careers and failed relationships.
Why indeed?
A lifetime of experience is not a bad thing, in fact, it’s something to brag about a bit. The bad times are a matter of course, and happens to everyone. But not all of those bad times where necessary or justified. You may have been like me and experienced most of that alone. It’s taken years of therapy, active learning, practice and sheer willpower to just reach a point of facing some of the ugly truths. I have come out the other end of this a stronger and more confident person. But I’m still a work in progress!
I want to talk about all things related to anxiety and how best to deal with this topic and how to move forward with self compassion and a little bit of curiosity. You don’t have to do this alone.
Can positivity help anxiety?
I know it can. I’m living proof! The whole reason for my being here is because not only did I do the work, but I listened to that small voice that said I was worthy of love and being seen and heard! The goal of this blog is to not only talk about anxiety, but to live with it, deal with it and find a way forward with topics like nutrition, coping methods ,exercise and our relationships.
Healing is not linear, and it’s not pretty either but it is necessary to move forward into a fantastic life! Self care means doing the work, facing difficult feelings, and focusing on all the things we’re doing right. But along side the work, there should be fun topics too. For instance, travel, how do you deal with anxiety while on vacation? What type of exercise makes you feel better? Maybe tips and tricks for dealing with those stressfull moments? Are you ready?
